Layout

Calligram was an arts and culture magazine that showcased the work of some of the finest independent creatives from the East Midlands. My involvement was to create the layout and prepare for printing. Embracing the spirit of DIY zine culture and taking my cues from such designers as David Carson, Chris Ashworth, and Vaughan Oliver (hey - I'm a child of the '90s, gimme a break, yeah?), I eschewed the constraints of a more traditional grid-based design in favour of a looser, more experimental approach to keep the layout as interesting as possible while remaining aesthetically sympathetic to the content within it.
